Taste Of Shanghai, Ashfield

Taking a peek inside Taste of Shanghai, it clearly looks fancier than New Shanghai, but the amount of people standing outside of either place is more or less the same. This raises the question: Which is better?

We squeeze ourselves through the not-so-wide door and stand awkwardly for 20 minutes waiting for a table (we didn't want to share see?). Before I order, I have no idea I'm in for a night of guessing ingredients...

Assorted vegetarian salad $6.80
Wild mushroom with abalone sauce $16.80
Pan-fried pork dumplings $9.80
Shanghai style shallot pancake $7.50
Crispy eel $18.80
Walnut parfait $5
Reason for ordering this: they systematically ran out of pumpkin tart, tofu ice-cream and matcha mousse cake.
